Wendy Schwartz lives and works along a marsh on Tomales Bay near Inverness. Her studio looks across the bay to Black (Elephant) Mountain. Painted both on site and in the studio, her landscapes may include structures and occasionally figures.
"A slant of light, the edge of town, the open road, granite and sky-- one of these might catch my eye. I use paint to explore my experience of place, almost entering the painting as I work. West Marin makes a compelling subject with its mix of solitude, water, earth, and agriculture. “
In the Bay Area, work can be seen at Leona's in Point Reyes Station, and in Sausalito at Robert Allen Fine Art, as well as the SFMOMA Artists Gallery at Fort Mason.
