Sue is influenced by the West Marin environment and more specifically, Tomales Bay. While there are references to particular locations along the shore of the bay, her interest is the light, texture, and movement of water.
Sue attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and later graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute.
