Marty Knapp lives in Point Reyes Station, California where he makes his fine black & white photographs. His images express a fascination with light, form, and texture, whether discovered in the coastal landscape near his home or from imagined, self-created compositions in his studio. His most recent work ranges from dream-like infrared studies of the local flora to the wondrous glory of the star-splashed sky above. He makes his numbered edition prints with archival pigment inks on fine art papers.

His photographic work spans a period of forty years and resides in private and public collections worldwide. including the National Park Service, Fireman’s Fund Headquarters, and UCSF Medical Center. Knapp’s work has appeared in The World’s Top Photographers, Black & White Magazine and Lenswork. In 2007 his book, Point Reyes 20 Years, received the bronze medal for photography in the Independent Publisher Book Awards International competition.

The Marty Knapp Photo Gallery, in Point Reyes Station, is open from 11-5PM, Friday through Sunday and also by appointment. If you arrive when the gallery is not open, please call to see if we’re available. Marty and his wife, Jean, live only a block away.
