45 Inverness Way, Inverness, California 94937, US

Martha Ture was raised in a political family in Washington, D.C. She attended the Corcoran Gallery school and Cornell University in the School of Fine Arts. She studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and at the University of California at Berkeley. She took her Master’s in Public Policy at UC Berkeley and worked as a federal fisheries biologist. She is co-author of two papers on the effects of crude oil on marine food chains. She also worked as a journalist, and in the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Public Utilities Commission.

Ms. Ture now finds her best contribution to the earth is photography. She follows poet Gary Snyder’s directive to “find your place on the planet, dig in, and take responsibility from there.” Her practice is primarily in nature and wildlife photography, with minors in concert photography, altered reality, historic and street photography. She participates in juried exhibitions and works to expand her awareness, to give her audience more times of connection to the earth, and to explore what the world presents to her.
