Carolyn Means

Clay continues to surprise me: from its transformation from soft and malleable to fired and durable. My shapes are mainly wheel thrown with porcelain clay, and I use oak tree ashes for my ash glazes. In my work I try to reflect some of the natural processes that surround us. Geological forms, leaf patterns, shells in the water, dappled light streaming through the trees: all these inspire me.
