I am passionate about combining patterns, colors, shapes and textures to create my "Table Top" pieces. My background in textile design and watercolor painting has evolved into a love of clay and glaze. The method I use to paint my ceramic pieces is called Majolica (the painting of colored pigment on unfired white glazed terracotta bisque). Each piece is an improvised original without sketching first. The lead free materials I use are the same you see in traditional Majolica Italian pottery except my method of painting is different. I use the pigments on the white glaze the same way I would use pigments on paper painting layers of color starting with light washes.
